Meet Jim Roop

When he’s not in the office, Jim can be found cooking up a favorite recipe, traveling abroad or enjoying a glass of fine wine.

Jim Roop brings more than 40 years of strategic PR counsel to our agency. Before founding Roop & Co. in 1996, he served for 15 years as chief operating officer of Watt, Roop & Co. (now Fleishman-Hillard), which was one of the Midwest’s largest independent PR agencies. Earlier in his career, Jim was vice president for Burson-Marsteller in Chicago and for Ketchum in Pittsburgh. Client projects under his direction have won seven PRSA Silver Anvil Awards. Jim was also awarded the Greater Cleveland PRSA chapter’s Lighthouse Award for lifetime achievements in 1999.

He is a fellow and accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, where he served as past chair of its national Honors & Awards Committee and Financial Communications Section. A charter member of the National Investor Relations Institute Senior Roundtable, Jim is past president of its Cleveland and Pittsburgh chapters.

Jim is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he chairs the North Coast Cleveland Alumni Association and is a past member of the advisory board for its journalism school. In addition, he is past president of The Hermit Club and serves on the board of trustees for local non-profits Malachi House and Home Repair Resource Center.
