Jim Roop brings more than 40 years of public relations counseling experience to the team. Before founding Roop & Co. in 1996, Roop served for 15 years as chief operating officer of Watt, Roop & Co. (now Fleishman-Hillard), which was then one of the Midwest’s largest independent public relations firms. Earlier in his career, Roop served as vice president for both Burson-Marsteller in Chicago and Ketchum Public Relations in Pittsburgh.
He is a fellow and accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, immediate past chair of its national Honors & Awards Committee and past chair of its Financial Communications Section. A charter member of the National Investor Relations Institute Senior IR Roundtable, he has also served twice as president of its Cleveland chapter and is a past president of its Pittsburgh chapter. Client projects under his direction have won seven PRSA Silver Anvil Awards. He was awarded the Greater Cleveland PRSA Chapter’s 1999 Lighthouse Award for lifetime achievements.
Roop is a graduate of West Virginia University, chairs its North Coast Cleveland alumni chapter and is a past member of the advisory board for its journalism school. He is past president of The Hermit Club, America’s oldest private club devoted to the performing arts, and is currently on the board of trustees for Malachi House and Home Repair Resource Center.
Brad Kostka is responsible for business development, agency management and account services. His experience includes strategic, marketing, interactive and crisis communications; branding and rebranding; media, investor and employee relations; and event planning and management. He counsels organizations ranging from global, publicly traded corporations to local startups.
Prior to joining the firm, he held public relations and event management positions with the 1996 U.S. Senior Open Golf Championship, Cleveland Metroparks and the Ohio University Office of Alumni Relations.
Kostka serves on the executive committee of the Cleveland Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and leads its branding function. He is past president of the Greater Cleveland Chapters of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators. He earned a BSJ degree from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.
Lynn DeChant serves as director of graphic design at Roop & Co. and is responsible for bringing a visual representation to our clients’ communication materials. She has the perfect balance of keen business acumen and creative flair to deliver messages with high visual impact.
DeChant can drive the graphic aspect of a project from start to finish – beginning with conceptualization and design, and taking it all the way to production and delivery. She is experienced in managing a broad range of design projects, including brand identity, marketing campaigns, signage, print collateral, website development, advertisements, social media platform designs, annual reports, displays, presentations and more.
She has been with the firm since 1999 and previously was a graphic designer at Watt, Roop & Co., Dennison Advertising and Kent State University, from which she graduated. DeChant has won numerous industry awards for her designs and was a past recipient of the Women of Professional Excellence Award from the Greater Cleveland YWCA.
Amanda O’Neil develops, manages and implements strategic traditional, social and digital business communications programs for Roop & Co.’s extensive list of clients. She manages day-to-day client activities and campaigns that incorporate traditional and digital components including media relations, internal communications and social media.
Previously, O’Neil worked for G&S Business Communications, a Chicago, Illinois, based B2B agency, where she served as a senior account executive.
O’Neil holds a leadership role on the Associate Board for AmericaSCORES Cleveland, an innovative organization teaching kids how physical activity, creative expression and teamwork nurtures a strong body, mind and character. A Cleveland native, she is a graduate of John Carroll University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
Kathryn Casciato serves as senior account executive at Roop & Co., where her responsibilities include providing public relations support for the firm’s corporate, consumer, government and non-profit accounts. Her experience includes public and media relations, technical communications, internal communications and copy editing.
Before joining Roop & Co., Casciato was a public relations and communications intern for the Chardon Local School District. She also worked as a copy editor for Water Environment Federation and, before that, as a technical communications intern for Parker Hannifin Corporation. Casciato is a cum laude graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and earned two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and psychology.
Monica Farag serves as graphic designer for Roop & Co. She conceptualizes, develops and creates visual designs for our clients’ marketing and communication assets. Farag has fresh takes on how to see the world while designing engaging and effective materials for clients.
She is extremely creative and produces a range of projects from brand identity manuals, company logos, trade booth signage, print collateral, advertisements (both digital and print), multimedia assets, websites and more.
Before joining Roop & Co., Farag was a graphic design intern for Walk and Create in London and a design intern for AMG Marketing in Cleveland, Ohio. Farag is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Communications Design and a minor in communications.
Maggie is an assistant account executive. She is responsible for media relations, content creation and internal communications. Coming from a broad media background, she has experience in news reporting, radio production, and public relations.
Sullivan is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. While in school, Sullivan conducted long-term research on the practices surrounding petroleum coke on Chicago’s Southeast Side and frequently contributed to the Loyola Phoenix.
A detail-oriented, efficient and organized professional, Mandy Hendrickx oversees a broad range of accounting activities for Roop & Co. She graduated from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and earned her CPA license, the accounting profession’s highest standard of competence. Hendrickx has been with the Roop & Co. team for nearly two decades.
Before joining Roop & Co., Hendrickx held a business development position at Herbruck, Alder & Co., an employee benefit and brokerage service. Prior to that, she worked in accounting and auditing at Skoda Minotti, a CPA firm.
