Roop & Co. Announces Leadership Transition

Roop & Co. announced today that Brad Kostka will succeed Jim Roop, who founded the strategic communications agency in 1996, as president effective April 30. Roop will continue to serve as senior advisor for the firm.

“Since I founded this firm, Brad has been instrumental in growing Roop & Co. into the powerhouse agency it is today,” said Roop. “With more than two decades of committed service to our firm, Brad is remarkably well equipped to lead the continued success and evolution of Roop & Co., allowing for a seamless transition of leadership.”

A 25-year veteran in strategic communications, Kostka has been with Roop & Co. since its inception and most recently has served alongside Roop as senior vice president for the past 10 years. Under his leadership, Roop & Co. will continue to focus on expanding its digital capabilities and delivering exceptional service for its clients in B2B manufacturing and professional services.

“Over my career, I’ve had the opportunity to witness the continuous evolution of our industry and help guide both our clients and agency through those rapid changes,” said Kostka. “We have since transformed from a traditional PR firm to an integrated marketing agency that offers a range of digital and content marketing capabilities – helping our clients to tell their stories, build their brands and accelerate their growth.”

As senior vice president, Kostka has been responsible for leading business development, agency management and account services for Roop & Co. Throughout his career, Kostka has provided strategic communication counsel to organizations ranging from global, publicly traded corporations to local startups. He serves on the board for the Association for Corporate Growth’s Cleveland chapter, where he leads its branding function, and is past president of the Cleveland chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and International Association of Business Communicators. In addition, Kostka serves on the boards for Beech Brook and America SCORES Cleveland. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.

“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, strategic counsel and keen business acumen that Jim has brought to our agency over the years,” said Kostka. “I look forward to working with him in this new capacity to ensure the continued success of Roop & Co.”

During his distinguished 47-year career, Roop has led client projects that won nine PRSA Silver Anvil Awards and was granted the PRSA Cleveland chapter’s Lighthouse Award for lifetime achievements in 1999. Before founding Roop & Co., he served for 15 years as chief operating officer of Watt, Roop & Co. (now Fleishman-Hillard), which was one of the Midwest’s largest independent PR agencies. Earlier in his career, Roop was vice president for Burson-Marsteller and Ketchum. He is a fellow and accredited member of PRSA, where he served as past chair of its national Honors & Awards Committee and Financial Communications Section. A charter member of the NIRI Senior Roundtable, Jim is past president of its Cleveland and Pittsburgh chapters. He is also past president of The Hermit Club and serves as a board member for Malachi House and Home Repair Resource Center. Roop is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he is immediate past chair of its North Coast Cleveland Alumni Association.
